Around the corner from our hotel, you’ll find a contender for the world’s best-known street food vendor in Jay Fai. A few years on from making the Michelin Guide, the buzz around the ‘queen of crab omelettes’ is still simmering. And a couple of doors down there’s Thipsamai serving arguably Bangkok’s most popular Pad Thai.

Tick the cultural boxes with a trip to breathtaking temple Wat Ratchanatdaram and the unusual Giant Swing, or head down to indie art gallery Joyman before finishing the night on Mahachai Road in style at hip hangouts such as Uncle Tim and Tai Soon Bar.

Rattanakosin, Bangkok’s royal quarter, is also mere moments away. A neighbourhood fit for a king, here you’ll discover such world-renowned cultural attractions as the Grand Palace, Wat Pho temple and Bangkok National Museum.

Running alongside the ancient riverside, there’s also an energetic post-sunset scene to explore from painfully cool cocktail bars to boutique galleries, traditional Thai eateries and fine-dining restaurants.

For escapades into the rest of Bangkok, including action-packed Sathorn and Sukhumvit, the newly- completed Sam Yot MRT (subway/underground) station is a short walk from our hotel and only a few stops from the hustle-bustle of contemporary Bangkok.
